Item Description
10.75x16.75" w/"Proceeds To Civil Rights Movement" on reverse listing cost of "$1" and address in Los Angeles to obtain more. 1965. Features photograph from the arraignment of 18 of the 21 Mississippians in connection with the murder of three civil rights workers in Philadelphia, Mississippi. James Chaney, Mickey Schwerner and Andrew Goodman were arrested and then released to klansman who tortured and murdered them eventually hiding their bodies on a remote farm. The murders were a turning point in the civil rights movement that brought national attention to the atrocities being committed against African Americans in the south. A 1x1.25" tear along right side affecting the leg of figure at right and a less than .25" vertical tear along top third, both repaired on reverse w/archival tape. Otherwise a very clean example w/only a trace of age toning. Fine. Historic and rare.
