Item Description
Large and impressive 29.75x29.75" professional flocked double-mat contains 26-7/8x27.5" high quality photo print of Marilyn Monroe as photographed by noted photographer Milton H. Greene (1922-1985), who took over 2,000 photographs of Monroe 1953-1957 (during their Marilyn Monroe Productions partnership). This photo depicts a nude and kneeling Monroe, whose modesty is preserved w/the help of a long black cardigan sweater, which blends into the black bkg., making Monroe's face and bare skin the center of attention. This photo was taken in Los Angeles, CA in Sept. 1953 for "Look" magazine's Christmas Holiday issue. Deemed too risque for the 1950s, the photo remained unpublished until being featured as the cover to the Jan. 1997 issue of "Playboy." The original photo was restored by Greene's son under his supervision, bringing back the color and sharpness of Greene's original photo. Milton H. Greene printed signature at lower right. Printed as part of a very limited series of just 55, print has been hand-numbered "4/55" at lower left, beside paper imprint. NM and stunning. Ready for framing. Comes with The Archives of Milton H. Greene, LLC LOA w/matching edition number.
