Item Description
Original 18x19.25x2.5" cardboard shipping carton w/Brunswick Radio Corporation mailing label shows obvious aging/wear w/two loose flaps and just comes along. Carton contains 18 translucent dark red vinyl discs. each 15.75" dia. and w/original Sound Studios of New York sleeves (which have labels w/"Superman" name, 1941 date and episode date). Each disc has two programs per record and records contain complete programs 183-184, 195 and 198-228. The "Superman" radio program began Feb. 1940 as a three-times-a-week radio serial and was discontinued in March 1942 before being revived due to fan demand in Aug. 1942 and continued until Feb. 1949. Bud Collyer starred as the voice of Superman. Paper labels have classic image of Superman breaking chains w/"Superman" comic book title/logo. Sound Studios of New York, Inc. name appears on labels as they were the makers of disc, produced by Western Electric Co. 33-1/3 rpm. Scattered wear to labels, most are Fine to Exc. Sleeves have scattered aging and corner tip wear. Fine overall. Records themselves are VF to Exc. These transcription discs are rare individually, this many together w/the original shipping carton are all but impossible to find.
