Item Description
Lot of five 11x14" lobby cards (including rare title card) for the original release of the 1921 silent film adaptation of Mark Twain's 1889 novel of the same name. Produced by the Fox Film Corporation (later 20th Century Fox) and directed by Emmett J. Flynn, it is notable as the first film adaptation of Twain's novel and as the first film about time travel to the past. Title card features Twain photo portrait (as does one other card) surrounded by the cast of the film. Other cards showcase the film's great period costumes as well as castle set and knight on horseback. Cards are evenly aged and have some scattered margin dust soiling. Two cards have spot and thin streak of blue paint, which is not overly distracting. Cards have some corner tip wear and are Fine overall. Richard Calusdian Collection.
