Item Description
2.25" "Crew" button for a "B-29" with serial number "328" and location "Walker Army Air Field". This field is historically significant as it was in the first group of United States Army Air Forces B-29 Superfortess bases for initial training on the aircraft in the summer of 1943. It remained open until 1946. The B-29 Superfortress became the airplane capable of the first long-range strategic bombing of the Japanese Home Islands beginning in March, 1944 from bases in India. Button has small raised bump upper right from reverse bar pin as assembled. Metal back also names St. Louis Button Co. Rare and Exc.
