Item Description
29.5x36" varnished paper poster on wooden rollers professionally framed and mounted in a 3x33.5x41" shadow box. Hand colored image featuring large portraits of the 1876 Republican candidate's multiple slogans including "Let Us Strive For Human Rights" and "Let Us Preserve Our Nation's Honor." Obvious creases, toning and surface paper lifts throughout. Just Good. These campaign posters were issued from 1860 into the 1880s and this is only the third of any variety we've encountered that retains the original wooden rollers. While this one has obvious wear, it's a truly rare survivor that still commands the viewer. Display material for Hayes is infrequently available and this is among the most outstanding designs.
