Item Description
Founded in 1892 and headquartered in D.C., the National Society United States Daughters of 1812 is a woman's service organization for descendents of patriots who aided the American cause during that war. This badge is 2-5/8" long and tests as 14K gold. It was issued prior to 1906 and the reverse carries stamp of the jeweler Caldwell plus a patent date of 8/11/96. The blue enamel star reads in gold "U.S.D. 1812". The anchor's reverse carries hand engraved number "2871" and from the group's website this member's ancestor is identified as "Malcolm MacIntyre/Miner Of Lead For Bullets". The blue/gray ribbon has darkened some but Fine and metal parts are Mint. As best as we can measure, the 14K suspension weighs 3.0 grams.
