Item Description
9" long. Silk. Unlisted in Sullivan/Fischer and Hake. Text at center "'Tell The Truth' Cleveland And Reform 1884". Two lines of tiny holes from being stitched just affecting the top of Cleveland portrait and all four corners have been trimmed and folded not affecting the design. Fine. Rare. The Mulligan Papers scandal refers to Blaine's support of railway legislation in an effort to enhance the price of bonds he sold for a generous profit. Cleveland had admitted to fathering a child out of wedlock and took to the slogan "Tell The Truth" as Blaine continued to deny wrongdoing.
