Item Description
Three-piece poster measures 41x76.5" when assembled. Three-sheet poster is for the 1948 re-release of the 1932 Pre-Code horror film directed by Robert Florey and starring Bela Lugosi. Very loosely based on Edgar Allan Poe's short story "The Murders In The Rue Morgue," poster has small mention of Poe as well as Lugosi, whose lunatic scientist Dr. Mirakle does not appear on the poster, instead it is dominated by image of his ill-tempered caged ape who holds unconscious woman in his arms. Poster comes in three pieces as issued and each has been folded as such. Small pieces of aged tape at corners of each section, w/.25" to .5" splits at fold crease intersections and 1.5" split at bottom left. Some scattered margin wear w/a few tears. Top third has some scattered aging, and 4" split at lower left. Poster would display Fine overall if framed. Rare poster, even as a re-release. Very few known.
