Item Description
5x9x2" deep box w/non-Disney illustrated lid contains complete and unused ten piece tin litho tea set by Ohio Art Co. c. 1938. Box is complete w/insert to hold the pieces in place. Box lid shows wear w/heavy crease across top of main panel and .25" puncture to lid. Corners are free of splits and box retains its shape for display. Fine overall. Set consists of a teapot w/lid, two cups, two saucers, two plates, open sugar and creamer plus 5.5x7.5" serving tray. Teapot and cups feature wrap-around illustration depicting Donald Duck, Goofy, Pluto, Clara Cluck and one of Mickey's nephews on the teapot while two nephews appear on cups. Character illustrations vary slightly from the teapot to the cups. Saucers and plates feature picnic scenes. Saucers have same image of Mickey's nephew serving cake to Donald while the plate depicts an irate Donald who watches Mickey's nephew in picnic basket, eating pie as Clara Cluck laughs. Tray features a combination of these two scenes. Trace wear but Exc. overall. An exceptional set rarely found boxed.
