Item Description
2.25" from the Muchinsky Collection and from his Boston Red Sox frame but for a reason that eludes us. Rockingham Park was a famous horse racing track located in Salem, New Hampshire. In 1952, after outfielder Charles E. Keller retired from the Yankee's outfield, he went on to found, in 1955,  in Maryland,  Yankeeland Farm to breed horses. The race  horses had Yankee as part of their name. One of the most famous  "Yankee Bambino" is named  on this button. In 1975,  that horse was second in the Hamiltonian race and apparently also raced at Rockingham Park. The cartoon bat driving the trotter wears a "B" hat. Perhaps this stands for 'Bambino' and perhaps Muchinsky placed it in his Boston frame because of Ruth's early years with the team. Essentially Mint.
