Item Description
This and the next four lots span 1903 through 1908 issued for Baer family annual single day reunions held at Kutztown Park, about 20 miles west of Allentown, Pa. The first took place in 1900 but the 1903 button in this lot is the earliest we've seen. Each is 1.75" both with Reading Ribbon Badge Co. papers. 1903 shows real bears but as the Teddy Bear phenomenon gains traction the 1904 button has more anthropomorphic bears doing stunts and holding walking sticks. 1903 has moisture marks on upper 20% and on back side edge there is a 1"long narrow sliver of missing cello plus a one inch line where cello did not fold below the collet. Front remains glossy. VG. 1904 has two tiny darker dots on upper extreme edge. VF. We believe each to be the first we've offered in our 51 years.
