14-5/8x16.752" paper-covered wooden tray w/wonderfully illustrated cardboard panel lid contains complete parts for McLoughlin Bros. game. ©1893 Palmer Cox. Box shows obvious aging/wear w/edge rippling to lid and some lifting/rippling to lid label. Label also has some scattered edge wear w/creases, small tears and corner foxing. Box has all over dust soiling and some staining to interior. VG overall. Contents include ten 12" tall jig-sawed wood Brownie figures, each w/applied full color paper labels and bearing Palmer Cox copyright at bottoms. Figures include - Indian, Irishman, Canadian, Highlander, Chinaman, Dude, Sailor, Soldier, Policeman and Uncle Sam. Each has name and related verse on paper-covered back. Each comes w/wooden stand. Canadian has vertical split up the center and has had wooden brace added to back. VG. Dude is missing right portion of body from shoulder to knee. Good. Sailor is missing .5" piece from side of hat. VG/Fine. Other have some scattered paper rippling/aging and are Fine to VF overall. Game also includes two generic period painted wood balls for use as bowling type game, and as such each shows expected wear. Rare and desirable Brownies item.
