Item Description
Near set of seven (of eight) ranging in height from 2.5" to 4" tall. Made in Germany by Hertwig, 1920s. From "The Gumps" comic strip that began in 1917. Lot includes Andy Gump, Chester Gump, Min, Tilda, Widow Zander, Ching Chow and Uncle Bim. Missing only Old Timer. All have character names and "Germany" incised on back. Widow Zander has incised name of creator Sidney Smith. Elastic is tight on Min and Ching Chow, rest would need restrung. Scattered paint wear, more moderate to Andy Gump, Min, Ching Chow and Tilda, who also has small flake at neck. VG to Fine while rest are as nice as they come and VF to Exc.
