Item Description
Numerous variations exist for this kit and its various pieces (this lot consists of eight items, including envelope). All items in this lot are from 1942, the first year/first issue of the club. Envelope has typed recipient name/address label and shows some scattered wear from mailing, including small puncture at top center. Fine. Club letter is variant that mentions "emblem" (patch). Has facsimile signature of "Diana Prince (Wonder Woman), Secretary." Pin holes at corners w/moderate corner tip wear. VG/Fine. 8.5x11" certificate is variant that mentions "Americans/Democracy" (in all caps). Has 13 DC Comics character images including Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash and Green Lantern. Certificate has been neatly filled out in ink on provided lines. Pin holes at corners w/lower left corner tip off. Fine. 2x2.5" embroidered patch features club logo. Exc. 4" dia. cardboard decoder is variant w/names matching the characters shown on the certificate. Decoder has been filled out in ink on provided lines. Evenly aged but VF overall. The remaining war-related material includes - two M.C. Gaines items- "Youth And The War Effort" brochure, "The Minute Man Answers The Call" four-page comic book as well as a US War Savings Bond stamp album. Brochure has pin hole at top left and some handling wear. Fine/VF. Comic has pin holes at left corners and is Fine. Stamp album has some scattered aging but is unused and o/w Exc.
