Item Description
5.5x7.25x7.25" tall nicely designed high quality radio. This style radio by Emerson came in two different colors, black and cream. 1930s. Painted green accents on sides and front edge. Triangular aluminum pieces attached at front corners, each w/different character image including Minnie Mouse, Pluto, Horace Horsecollar and Clarabelle Cow. Bottom center has triangular attachment that reads "Emerson Radio And Television" along w/Walt Disney copyright. The images as well as the text on these attachments are much clearer than typically seen. Area of faint staining on Pluto image. Die-cut aluminum grill plate depicts Mickey Mouse playing upright bass over the original fabric speaker cover. Serial number plate still attached to back of radio. Radio tubes are complete, original coiled antenna wire and fabric-covered electric cord present, but we could not get radio to work. Missing majority of rubber covering on feet on the underside. The two plastic knobs are original. Body has scattered paint wear but radio remains structurally sound and moderate corner tip wear. Small split to wood at top screw on back panel. Fine overall, but Mickey grill plate displays Exc. These radios are scarce and were quite expensive in their day for a child's radio. Scarcer cream color variety.
