Item Description
26.5x28.5". 1840. Threads Of History plate #134 on page 102. At center is a military portrait of "Gen. W. H. Harrison" framed by a laurel wreath w/text accented by 13 stars. Canton features 13 stars in a medallion pattern w/12 encircling a large center star. Scattered holes, edge losses and faint staining most notable are: a .5x1.5" separation just affecting wreath design at center right and two small separations affecting the "PE" in "Tippecanoe". VG. An impressive survivor especially given the fragile fabric combined w/the potential ravages of campaign use and its nearly 180 years of life. Harrison flags are the earliest political flags in existence. A good candidate for cleaning and mounting by a skilled conservator but even in its current condition this dramatic display piece is a true prize.
