Item Description
Card features classic image of Batman and Robin in a spotlight that was featured on cover of "Batman" #9 comic book from Feb./Mar., 1942. Facsimile signature/inscription reads "Sincerely, Batman And Robin." This card was first used in 1943 as a promo for March Of Dimes/Infantile Paralysis and that version featured related text on the reverse along w/mailing address of recipient that was either typed or written. The 1943 card was smaller in size, 4.75x6.5". Then in 1947 it was again issued, this time in a slightly larger size of 5.25x6-5.8" (like the one we are offering here). We believe the 1947 version was simply used as a fan card as there is no March Of Dimes text printed on any backs, just the recipient address. However, added to the 1947 card was a copyright line on the front bottom margin and at right center, Bob Kane's stylized signature. None of that appears on the front of the card we are offering. This seems to indicate it is some type of proof. The card came directly out of the files of Sol Harrison, legendary DC Comics Production Director and one-time President of the company. Tiniest trace of edge/corner tip wear w/some pinpoint indents at top center. Still totally bright and clean. VF. A true variant rarity for the Batman collector.
