Item Description
28.75x38" w/original wooden dowel. "H. H. Lloyd Equestrian Portraits of Our Leading Generals NY: 1861" at bottom. Woodcut engraving featuring 18 Union Generals including: Ben Butler, George McClellan, Ambrose Burnside, Ulysses Grant, Winfield Scott and more. Early paper backing stabilizing vertical and horizontal tears most notably a 16" vertical at bottom center. Edge chipping, creases and typical toning. Paper backing has separated along bottom edge. Good. Despite these defects the key elements of the print remain complete and retain striking color. The excellent structure and crisp look make this a good candidate for professional conservation. A rare survivor and impressive display piece.
