Item Description
14.5x18" frame w/10.25x14" opening. Published by Currier & Ives. Original frame housing hand colored litho. titled "Grand National Union Banner For 1864" w/slogan "Liberty, Union And Victory" in lower margin. Vignette of Lady Liberty standing in the "Temple Of Liberty" flanked by American flags at top center just above the circular portraits. For accuracy we note a .75" surface paper lift at top left and a .25" tear at top right, both contained to the margin. Otherwise only moderate age toning and handling wear. VF. An impressive example of this key print to Currier "Grand National Banner" series produced from 1844-1876.
