Item Description
DC. Published in 1945 by the Juvenile Group Foundation. Fred Ray cover art from 1942 issue of "Superman" #14 used for front/back covers of this rare edition, omitting the price, issue number and publication month. 68-page book contains two previously issued Superman stories in bw and was designed to improve reading and writing skills of World War II draftees w/limited education. Book contains pre-testing, stories and additional testing repeating some of the panels of each story. Bottom right corner of front cover has "Work Book" label applied w/hand-inked "Skinner" name. Comes w/"Suggestions For Teachers" four-page booklet discussing both Superman and the teaching work book as well as outlining the areas of focus. Back has test answer keys. Some lt. handling wear/aging. VF. Also comes w/typed correction sheet, noting some errors in the work book that were caught after publication. Sheet has even lt. aging and is Exc. Both are rare AND THE ONLY EXAMPLES WE KNOW OF. Also, very few examples of this publication are known to exist, making this a particularly desirable issue to obtain. CGC Census shows 71 graded copies of "Action Comics" #1 and only eight copies of "Superman Work Book." Rare as complete w/papers and unique as labeled on cover.
