Item Description
1940s. 7/8" solid and hefty pin marked on both the reverse and the reverse bar pin "Sterling". Bar pin base includes a patent number. Front has raised outer rim and raised illustration of an octopus with large eyes and eyebrows, also wearing a sailor hat, with his tentacles wrapped around a German submarine (with nose to the left, rudder to the right) identified by a swastika on the hull at the nose. There is some slight texture on the upper background perhaps to represent water but background below the sub is perfectly smooth. Some trivial tarnish. NM. Very neat and only example we've seen.
