Item Description
2.5x5.5" stiff paper card for 1933 daily comic strip newspaper contest that was issued by various newspapers. One of two different cards issued for competing rocketships; this for "The Space Whizzer" (other was "The Comet") and if this was the ship that won the race, the stub was meant to be sent in to receive a "Picture Suitable For Framing" and the winner's name would be printed in "The Buck Rogers Color Page." Text below the ship illustration reads "This Is To Certify That ____ Is An Honorary Passenger Aboard This Competing Racer In The Interplanetary Rocketship Race From Earth To Mars, Sponsored By Buck Rogers." Card is unused although stub portion has vertical fold line at printed vertical line w/small crease. Front shows just the lightest trace of aging. VF. Both cards issued for this contest are very rare. This is the actual example shown in "The Official Price Guide To Pop Culture Memorabilia" by Ted Hake and comes with COA.
