Item Description
22.75x9x8" deep standard 1940s metal body pay phone by Automatic Electric Company. Has mouthpiece and separate receiver. Top has plated header card frame that holds card w/caricature image of Tojo, Hitler and Mussolini balancing on telephone wire w/"They May Be Tapping On This Wire" warning text. Small text at bottom of card includes John Lavalle artist's name, 1943 date and "Prepared By A-2 Section Northwest African Air Service Command" text. Plastic card cover has yellowed w/age, could be easily replaced if desired. Phone has replacement modern phone cord, untested. Scattered lt. wear to case w/some aging to frame plating, more noticeable on back. Phone is VF overall while card is Exc. First we've seen of this image in our 52 years.
