Item Description
8-1/8x11" card stock cover. McCutcheon, winner of the 1932 Pulitzer Prize for Editorial Cartooning, was the most influential political cartoonist of the first three decades of the 20th Century. McCutcheon was the main editorial cartoonist for the Chicago Tribune from 1903 till his retirement in 1946, during which he was one of the most widely syndicated cartoonist of his day. This book features 87 of McCutcheon's cartoons covering Roosevelt as a politician, conservationist, statesman, author and hunter. In 1909, the year before this book was published, McCutcheon joined T.R. hunting on African safari, w/Roosevelt gifting him an elephant's foot ottoman that sat in McCutcheon's Tribune office. Book has folds and short horizontal tears around perimeter of cover but is otherwise extremely clean w/only light handling wear. Fine. Pages have only trivial age toning. Exc. A scarce first printing of this highly entertaining book.
