Item Description
4-5/8x6.25x.75" deep box w/illustrated lid label contains complete card games (24) and instruction sheet for McLoughlin Bros. game, ©1905. Lid has moderate, all over aging/dust soiling and some edge wear w/surface splits and creasing to main lid panel. Box retains its shape and is Fine overall. Numbered and illustrated thick cardboard cards tell two stories of Max and Moritz (renamed Max & Maurice here) breaking into bakery, only to fall into dough and get caught by baker, who rolls them into loaves and bakes them in the oven only for the pair to eat their way out of their bread prisons and escape. Second story shows the pair playing trick on peasant and his grain only for the peasant to catch them and take them to the miller to be ground. Story ends w/tiny pieces of the boys being eaten by ducks. Object of game was to be first player to collect complete 12-card story. Cards have some minor scattered aging/staining and are VF overall. Rare game. This is the actual example shown in "The Official Price Guide To Pop Culture Memorabilia" by Ted Hake and comes with COA.
