Item Description
Numerous variations exist for this kit and its various pieces (see the following five items) and we will give some details in our descriptions but recommend you look over each piece in detail to see all the variations which range from subtle to extreme. This lot contains 100% complete first year/first issue kit consisting of 10 pieces. 6x9" mailing envelope w/inked recipient name/address and stamped low individual issue number "3533." Envelope shows handling wear and is VG. Member letter mentions the included badge. Exc. 8.5x11" certificate has 13 superhero images including Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash and Green Lantern and "Diana Prince" facsimile signature (as does the letter). Also has matching "3533" number stamp but name/address have not been filled out. Horizontal crease at center as mailed. VF. 4" dia. cardboard decoder is variant w/names matching characters shown on certificate. Penciled name/address on designated lines. Faint 2" margin crease. Fine/VF. Metal badge is 1.5" tall and version w/large style lettering and bar pin fastener. Badge is reported to have only been offered for two months and then replaced w/fabric patch (see next two items) because of wartime metal restrictions. Small traces of wear but much luster remains. VF. Remaining war-related material includes - three M.C. Gaines items; "Youth And The War Effort" brochure, "The Minute Man Answers The Call" four-page comic book (both are ©1942 versions) and "School Defensive Clubs For Victory" letter along w/"War Savings Bond Stamp Album" and small "Keep 'Em Flying" sticker (now adhered inside brochure). These paper items are VF to Exc. An all-time classic comic club kit. These are the actual examples shown in "The Official Price Guide To Pop Culture Memorabilia" by Ted Hake and comes with COA.
