Item Description
6x8" albumen photo applied to a slightly larger than 8x11" mount. Both image and mount have "Brady Photo/Washington DC" imprint. The fifteen commissioners portraits, including future President James Garfield, each feature a facsimile signature below. Scattered dots of light brown toning and moderate corner wear. Fine. Rare. Established by Congress on Jan. 29, 1877 this Commission was tasked w/resolving the 1876 election results ultimately awarding the twenty contested electoral votes to Republican Hayes in a 8-7 party line vote ensuring his election over Tilden.
