Item Description
8.5x11" single-sided stiff paper certificate awarded to participant in athletic events that took place at same event as previous three items. Certificate's bkg. features same full body Superman image w/Trylon and Perisphere images. Text reads in part - "This Certificate Of Merit Recognizes That (name/age of child) Takes Pride In Physical Culture, Practices Personal Hygiene, Follows Good Citizenship Towards Both Community And Country And Has Competed In This Challenge To Demonstrate Each. Presented July 1940." Bottom has spaces for signature of Edna Davis, the Fair's Director of Special Days and stamped Superman signature. Unused. Upper right has 1/8" puncture/tear and bottom margin has faint moisture staining, but this could be matted out for a nice display. Fine/VF. Rare and just the second we've offered in our 52 years.
