Item Description
11x17" on newsprint stock w/blank back. Advertises a "Nov. 3" event at "Federal Building/ 450 Golden Gate/ San Francisco. Calif." Pencil notation in top corner "11/3/69". Emory depicts a courtroom scene w/two police officers attacking a bound and gagged Bobby Seale as Judge Hoffman, holding a confederate flag looks on. Additional quote at top right "'An Unarmed People Are Slaves Or Subjected To Slavery At Any Given Time' Dred Scott 1857 Bobby Seal 1969." Horizontal fold at center, tiny chip of missing paper along lower right side and uneven toning most notable at lower right. VG. Seale and seven other defendants were charged w/inciting the riot at the '68 Democratic National Convention. After many outbursts during the trial Judge Hoffman ordered Seale be bound and gagged during the proceedings and sentenced him to a four year prison term on 16 counts of contempt of court.
