Item Description
3x4.25" stiff card holds bronze luster "Deputy" 12 point star w/reverse pin plus lower loop suspending 1-5/16" dia. heavy bronze medallion showing Gene Autry on Champion w/"Valor - Honor - Merit" text in bkg. and surrounding "Gene Autry - Champ - Crackshot Cowboy" rim text. Daniel Smilo & Sons, Inc. 1948. Card features Autry portrait image and lists 12 words associated w/the concept of "Honor" and continues on the card "Only Those Who Qualify Are Entitled To Wear This High Decoration." Card is evenly aged and has tiny nick along left edge, but is o/w VF. Badge is high grade, NM example w/brilliant luster. Rare and the only carded example known to us. This is the actual example shown in "The Official Price Guide To Pop Culture Memorabilia" by Ted Hake and comes with COA.
