Item Description
Lot of three 1950s premium rings. First and foremost is Clarabell's Horn ring. We are unsure what sponsor offered this unique ring, however we suspect Colgate-Palmolive. Adjustable brass bands have portraits of Howdy Doody and Clarabell on sides. Brass strap across the top holds silver luster aluminum 1.5" long replica of Clarabell's horn. Produces a loud squeaking sound when blown. High grade example w/bright luster. NM and rare in this condition. Comes w/large ring issued by Palmolive Soap, designed to be used w/a battery (not included), causing Howdy's high relief plastic face to light up. While the brass finish on the base is somewhat dark, the surfaces are clean and Clarabell is clearly seen on both sides. Bands are Fine. Brass loop which held the battery carries Brownie Mfg. Co. ring maker's name. Contact wire for the battery is present and Howdy's high relief plastic head is Exc. Bright red plastic base ring w/photographic-type paper insert w/Howdy portrait. These rings were produced w/several different color bases. Almost certainly a premium but sponsor is unknown. NM. Both Howdy Doody rings are scarce.
