Item Description
Complete 10.5x14.75" book w/78 pages (including cardboard covers) in color. By R.F. Outcault and published by Grand Union Tea Company, ©1902. Earliest known Cupples & Leon Co. comic book. Pages are printed on front side and feature Sunday page reprints dealing w/humorous adventures (although many are politically incorrect by today's standards) of Lil Mose and his animal friends including various escapades in New York City. Front cover is detached along spine and has 1x1.75" corner piece off upper right and 7/8x1-3/8" piece off lower left. 1-3/8" tear at center right margin. 2.25x3.5" area of staining at upper left. Moderate penciling along top margin. Front cover is Fair. Back cover has scattered dust soiling and some staining w/heavy crease and obvious corner tip wear. Back cover is just Good. Introduction page is split but loose piece is intact, showing obvious wear along top margin and upper corner. Remainder of pages have some random edge tears and are VG to Fine overall. Scarce in complete condition. Highly desirable Platinum Age Sunday page reprint book.
