Item Description
Exquisitely hand-decorated porcelain sculpture atop wooden base has impressive overall size of 12x17.5x13" tall. Sculpted by Enzo Arzenton, who first started producing sculptures for the Laurenz Disney Collection in 1983 and continued to do so until he retired in 1999; production on all Disney pieces then ceased. First released in 1983, the production run was supposed to be 2,500 pieces but as w/nearly every piece in this line, final production was much more limited. This particular piece had just 391 produced. Back of sculpture has incised area of scrolls w/"Capodimonte" name. Inside this area has incised "64 Limited 2500" notation. To left of this area is incised "The Walt Disney Company - Made In Italy" text. Incredibly detailed scene prominently features Geppetto in his night clothes carrying a candle and pistol as he looks to see where the commotion is coming from in his workshop. At the opposite end is Pinocchio w/look of joy on his face staring back at Geppetto. Other characters include Figaro at Geppetto's feet, Cleo raised up out of her fishbowl and Jiminy Cricket standing atop the workbench. Superb detailing continues w/the inclusion of objects such as paint cans/brushes, cuckoo clock, pipe, vise, broom basket of wood shavings, boy and clown marionettes on shelf, etc. Front has scroll reading "Walt Disney's Pinocchio" and below this on the wood base is "Laurenz" plaque. Does not come w/original box or COA. NM as issued. An extraordinary sculpture which is a must-have for collectors of Pinocchio and Capodimonte. This is the actual example shown in "The Official Price Guide To Disney Collectibles" by Ted Hake and comes with COA.
