Item Description
Exquisitely hand-decorated porcelain sculpture atop wooden base has impressive overall size of 11x15x13.5" tall. Sculpted by Enzo Arzenton, who first started producing sculptures for the Laurenz Disney Collection in 1983 and continued to do so until he retired in 1999. Upon his retirement, production on all Disney pieces ceased. This piece was released in 1988 in celebration of Mickey Mouse's 60th Birthday. The production run was initially 2,500 pieces, but as w/nearly every piece in this line, final production was much more limited. This particular piece had a total of just 192 produced. Back of sculpture has incised area of scrolls w/"Capodimonte" name. Inside this area has handwritten "67 Limited 2500" notation. To left of this area is incised "The Walt Disney Company - Made In Italy" text. Incredibly detailed scene features Mickey present bouquet of flowers to Minnie Mouse, who sits on fence under tree. Clarabelle Cow reacts w/joy, thinking the flowers are for her as Donald Duck looks on. Front has scroll reading "60th Birthday - Walt Disney's Mickey Mouse" and below this on the wood base is "Laurenz" plaque. Both Mickey and Minnie are complete w/original string tails and sculpture is NM. An extraordinary sculpture which is a must-have for collectors of Disney and Capodimonte. Very conservative opening bid based on issue price and current asking price on the secondary market. This is the actual example shown in "The Official Price Guide To Disney Collectibles" by Ted Hake and comes with COA.
