Item Description
4.25x6-1/8" single-sided promotional card has classic image of Superman breaking chains. Card was issued by New York, NY radio station WOR 710, which later helped form the Mutual Broadcasting System in 1934, becoming its New York flagship station. Mutual was one of the "Big Four" national radio networks in the US during the 1930s-1980s. This postcard dates to 1940 as "The Adventures Of Superman" serial came to radio as a syndicated show on WOR on Feb. 12, 1940. Text on card notes "Attention Boys And Girls - The Adventures Of Superman Joins Our Broadcast Schedule In An All New Radio Program On February 12th." This is a Mutual file copy as unused reverse has "File - Mutual" stamp. Faint paper clip impression at top left, but card is o/w NM. Rare.
