Item Description
4.25x5". Portrait on translucent white glass w/clear glass covering and matte brown paper tape sealing edges. Label on reverse has additional text "Cuba, NY/Photographs, Porcelain Pictures, Ambrotypes, Gems & C. In The Most Artistic And Durable Manner." Designed to be backlit for transmitting light through the glass the image has high detail and contrast approaching photographic likeness. Likely produced between 1865-1880. Minor chipping of paper tape and missing original loop at top. Portrait has light brown spots of toning flanking portrait. VF. Rare.
