Item Description
12.5x15.5" frame w/5.25x8.25" glazed cotton flag. Unlisted in Threads Of History. Overprinted in bold black ink along white stripes "U. S. Grant. For President. S. Colfax. For Vice President." The 36 five pointed stars in the canton are arranged in six rows of six. Extremely faint damp staining at top right that blends evenly and does not distract from the overall striking display presence. Extremely Fine. A rare and desirable artifact of the 1868 Republican campaign. Professionally displayed in a period frame, the flag has been stitched to acid free cotton behind UV blocking plexiglass.
