Item Description
31" long shirt,  41" long pants and 20x22" kerchief. C.1901. Belt plate and jacket buttons feature an eagle design that is almost identical to the ones seen in images of TR in uniform. Jacket is complete w/epaulettes. Wear including light stains throughout, tiny holes and overall moderate handling/age wear. VG. Worn by "R. M. Cole" w/ink inscription in pants. The family's story w/this item notes the Ralph M. Cole wore this as part of a Teddy Roosevelt Youth Corps on Staten Island between 1901-1902. We couldn't locate any further information of such a group. Manufacturers throughout industry capitalized on Roosevelt's image post Spanish American War and we have seen similar outfits of this vintage.
