Item Description
10x12.75" illustrated die-cut thin card contains approx. 12" long glider made of thin Vacuform plastic in shape of Batman's body and cape. Designed to be launched from included plastic handle w/rubber band, sling-shot style. Made in Argentina, w/o copyright (and possibly unlicensed), 1966. Clearly modeled after Transogram's own version of "The Flying Batman" as is features similar card art and design (though in a different color scheme), this is one of at least three different "Batman" character gliders (see following items) produced for the foreign market. Card has two spots of staple rust along top left and shows scattered handling wear w/slight warp. Card is Fine. Glider has 1-7/8" hairline crack to shoulder nearest edge of card and .25" crack by hand. Some minor glue staining by feet where separate body piece was attached to separate cape/wings piece. Fine overall but still very nice for display. Rare and first we've offered in our 53 years. From the collection of Chip Kidd, renowned author, graphic designer and pop culture enthusiast extraordinaire.
