Item Description
16x20" print copyrighted in 1903 by C.H. Thomas and P.H. Lacey and published by Royal Picture Gallery Co., Chicago. Titled "Dinner Given At The White House By President Roosevelt To Booker T. Washington, October 17th, 1901." TR, shortly after becoming president, became the first to host a Black American at the White House. The event and this print inspired several "Equality" button designs during the 1904 campaign considered of an anti-TR nature. Print has somewhat dusty margins at left and top left but the margins are large and scene area is very clean. Small .25" flake off top edge. Reverse has .5" dia. small repair to a hole but this is on left bkg. when viewed from front and doesn't show at all. Overall Fine but would mat to display Exc. Rare and first we've offered in 40 years.
