Item Description
7.25x12.25". Cast aluminum. Ike detractors criticized him for his frequent golfing and some were upset by his decision to federalize the Arkansas National Guard sending the 101st Airborne to protect the Little Rock 9 as they integrated Little Rock's Central High School. Major media reporting from the time includes many stories about the 101st having bayonets on their rifles including a title from a Sept. 26, 1957 Atlanta Constitution article "Little Rock High Integrated As Bayonets Scatter Crowds" w/side bar story "Ike To Meet With Dixie Governors" illustrated w/a photo captioned "President Watches Flight Of Golf Ball."
