Item Description
8.25x10.75" format of Whitman's paint book No. 689, published in Great Britain in 1942 by Dean & Son Ltd. Whitman's version was larger (11x15"w/48 pages) and this British version is abridged, w/24 pages featuring totally different and more detailed cover art than seen on its American counterpart. "Fantasia" characters featured include - Bacchus and Jacchus, centaur Brudus and centaurette Melinda, Hop Low and Chinese Mushroom Dancers, Mickey Mouse and the Sorceror Yesnid (Disney spelled backwards), dinosaurs, ballet dancers from the "Dance Of The Hours" sequence as well as various anthropomorphic plants and fairies. Pages have slight even aging but remain unused. VF overall. Cover shows moderate pinch creases w/.5" and 1.25" spine splits at top/bottom. Book also shows corner tip/edge wear. Fine overall. While the American book is rare (and we have only offered a few in our 53 years), this British version is even rarer, as this is the first we've seen. Among the rarest of any Disney paint/coloring books.
