6.5" glazed cotton. Text at top "For President U.S. Grant The Patriot And Statesman" w/eagle flanked by flags, handshake design and military portrait. Riding a wave of re-newed popularity Grant had the most pledged delegates heading into the 1880 GOP convention. Speaking in support of the nomination Roscoe Conkling stated "When Asked Which State He Hails From, Our Sole Reply Shall Be, He Hails From Appomattox And Its Famous Apple Tree."
