Item Description
Large 2.25" dia. cello pinback button w/classic image of Mickey waving a greeting w/one hand. Small text below image reads "Copy. 1928-1930 By W.E. Disney." The earliest movie theater clubs elected an officer slate headed by children dubbed "Chief Mickey Mouse" and "Chief Minnie Mouse." Buttons were produced for these and a few other offices such as the "Color Bearer," offered here. Red text is lightly faded and there is no other color fading although there is slight bluetone primarily on the cream bkg. at 3 o'clock area to right of Mickey which occurred during the printing process, w/slight blue color coming from the dark blue rim edge. Cello surface has 7/8" hairline crack to surface, running from top of Mickey's pants at right and to edge of 3 o'clock area. Metal back shows scattered brown oxidation. VG overall. Ex-Maurice Sendak Collection.
