Item Description
1.75" beautiful sepia portrait, without dot screen, with text panel below accented by two pair of boxing gloves. Celluloid is joined to black fiberboard which in turn has a stiff cardboard reverse in a baseball design and with the notched celluloid wheels on the edges to count "Runs" for the "Visitors" and "Home Club" plus "Innings". Johnson acquired the heavyweight title with a defeat of Tommy Burns in Sydney, Australia 12/26/1908 and held it until 1915. The rare combination of  boxing and baseball themes on a watch fob dates from around 1910. Light and general wear on the celluloid shows only in reflected light. Exc. Paul Muchinsky Collection.
