Item Description
The Superman daily comic strip began running in January 1939. It is very likely that this rare button is from that year. Rim text reads "Superman Daily In The Democrat." Button has 4 very long but very thin hairline cracks. One shows up a little under normal viewing at the left and right sides of his chest. In reflected light another shows up across his waist, one up the right-hand side and another on the upper left bkg. There is also a little bit of gray tone mixed in with the yellow color on his upper body between his head and his black trunks. Reverse does not have backpaper if it ever did. Metal back has some pinpoint dents mostly on the very outer circumference beneath the collet. In spite of the condition problems, button still displays quite nicely with high gloss and near perfect centering. While better condition would certainly be desirable, this is a very respectable example visually and the button is so rare it is only the second we've been able to offer in 38 years. Quite possibly the first Superman pinback ever produced.
