Item Description
6x9.25" hardcover w/216 pages. Written by George Lowther and published by Random House in 1942, this is the very first Superman prose book ever published w/original stories and unique art, including illustrations throughout by Joe Shuster, co-creator of Superman. These appear at the beginning/ending of chapters as well as six full-page illustrations and four choice full color plates. Dustjacket shows Superman bounding over Metropolis skyline. Dustjacket shows obvious wear w/moisture staining along bottom margin (this also affects bottom 2-3" of book's cover and bottom edge of first inner page). Top of dustjacket spine has 2x2-5/8" piece replaced w/color photocopy. This area of book's spine has some age fading from missing section. Dustjacket has one inner corner clipped and shows scattered edge/corner tip wear w/some small tears/chips and some scattered color touch-ups. VG overall. Book itself is VG/Fine overall w/evenly aged, VF pages.
