Item Description
7/8" with rarely seen slightly concave tin covered back that has vertical stickpin. Metal incised with name of maker W. H. Haskell 618 Pine St., St. Louis. Sharkey supposedly got his "Sailor" nickname from being an Irish stowaway as a child. He fought the best of the era. Button dates to 1898-1899 during which he faced off against James J. Jeffries, Kid McCoy and a Jeffries re-match. He also fought Corbett, Sullivan and Fitzsimmons. NM. Rare. Paul Muchinsky Collection Book Example.
