Item Description
This is the first Disney-licensed publication. 9x12" and a complete copy w/16 pages. This book had four printings, this a Bibo & Lang first printing, ©1930. A number of distinct differences separate this first printing from later printings. This front cover has cream-colored border, later printings were green to match the bkg. color. This first printing is w/o the Win Smith Mickey Mouse strips that were added to page 8 and back cover of the second to fourth printings. Another major difference is the Mickey Mouse song pictured on pages 12-14, which contains the lyric censored in later printings "When Little Minnie's Pursued By A Big Bad Villain, We Feel So Bad And We're Glad When You Up And Kill Him." Other small text changes exist between the first and later printings all of which are thoroughly detailed in the Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide in the Platinum Age section. This book is typically found w/pages 9/10 removed but this is a complete copy w/these pages intact. Page 9 features Mickey Mouse Pawns to be used w/The Mickey Mouse Journey gameboard that appears on page 7. Book also features a Mickey Mouse story of how he met Walt Disney and got his name. Cover has margin aging/creases and corner foxing w/small spine splits at top/bottom and pinch creases to spine. Front cover has .5x1" puncture/tear at center over Mickey's pants and due to this, front cover is Good/VG. Back cover is Fine. Pages are evenly aged and show some handling wear. Pages are o/w clean and VF overall. First printings of this historic Disney publication are very rare. From the Estate of Disney Artist Earl Duvall.
